General Rules — Ages All
2026 RNLL Local Rules. These supplement — and do not replace — the official Little League® Regulations.
- For Baseball, the home team will be responsible for tracking pitch counts for both teams. Pitch counts will be reconciled at the end of every inning. A pitching log will be maintained in Gamechanger.
- For Softball, the home team will be responsible for tracking innings pitched for both teams. Innings pitched will be reconciled at the end of every inning. A Pitching Log will be maintained in Gamechanger.
- For Softball: all divisions require face masks for batters, pitchers, first base and third base.
- Bats must meet Little League specifications and standards (Rule 1.10) (USA Softball bat stamps are allowed, 2 ¼ barrel diameter, BPF 1.20, Damaged bats will be removed).
- For Majors Softball and Baseball: Infield fly and dropped third strike rules are in effect. Leading off once the ball has passed home plate is allowed. Stealing home is allowed.
- Head-first slides are not allowed, except when a player is returning to a base. Non-base-returning head-first slides will result in an automatic out.
- 2026 General Baseball & Softball Rules
- Taunting players (“chatter” or “hey batter…” or yelling at a player who is making a play) is prohibited.
- The Home Team Manager and Coach(s) are responsible for pitching machines (in Rookie and Farm), bases, and field care; before and after each game. If your game is the last scheduled game on the field, the Home Team Manager is responsible for ensuring the bases and any field equipment is secured back in the Pyramid. Pitching machines MUST BE stored in the locked storage area and are only to be operated by official managers and coaches.
- On game days, the posted rules for batting cage use must be followed. The home team will have one hour to thirty five minutes for batting practice and the visiting team will have the remaining time. The assigned cage corresponds with field number.
- There will be at least one umpire in Farm, Minors and Majors.
- The home team will be required to use Gamechanger to keep the score, the away team is encouraged to do the same. The away team will be responsible for supplying a person to operate the scoreboard. No children are allowed in the scorekeeper’s booth without adult supervision. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Time for games: Tball: 45 minutes, Rookie: 1 hour, Farm and Minors: 1 hour and 30 minutes, Majors: 1 hour and 45 minutes.
- Addressing an umpire: Only the manager may address an umpire. The Manager must first call ‘time’ and walk to the umpire. The manager may only ask for a clarification of a rule, or ask the umpire to confer with his crew to see if they had a better angle on a call. Under no circumstances should a manager or coach question a judgement call.
- Reno National Little League does not observe the “10-run rule” during the Regular Season. (Rule 4.10 (e)(2)).
- For softball: Visitors, hats, headbands and bows are allowed, but not mandatory.
- Regular Season: Games may end in a tie.
- Postseason Tournament: Games may not end in a tie. If a game is tied after regulation, each extra inning will begin with a runner on second base. The runner on second will be the player in the batting order immediately preceding the leadoff batter for that inning.
