FAQ
Registration & Divisions
How do I know which division my child belongs in?
Division is based on league age, which is different from your child's actual age. Use the league age calculator on our Registration page — enter their birthday and it'll tell you both their baseball and softball league age and suggested division.
My daughter wants to play baseball, is that allowed?
Yes. Girls are welcome in any baseball division. T-Ball, Rookie, Farm, Minor, and Major baseball are all co-ed. Girls also have the option to play softball.
Can my child play up a division?
Playing up is sometimes allowed with approval from the Player Agent. Contact us at renonational@gmail.com to discuss your situation.
My child has never played before — which division is right?
First-time players should generally play in their age-appropriate division regardless of experience. Coaches expect players at all skill levels. If you have concerns, reach out and we'll help place them appropriately.
Games & Schedules
Where do I find game schedules?
Game schedules and practices are posted in GameChanger — your coach will add you to your team's GameChanger group when the season starts. The RNLL Google Calendar (on our Schedule page) covers everything else: league events, board meetings, registration deadlines, opening day, etc.
How do I know if a game is cancelled or the field is closed?
Check the Fields page for real-time status. Field closures are also posted to the RNLL Google Calendar. When in doubt, check before you leave.
What happens if it rains during a game?
The umpire makes the call on weather delays and cancellations. If a game is stopped due to weather, the Manager will communicate next steps. Rescheduled games are posted to the calendar.
How many innings does my child have to play?
All players must play a minimum of two innings per game. If this minimum is not met, the player must start the next game and play a minimum of three innings.
Pitching
What are the pitch count limits?
Pitch count limits vary by league age. See the official Little League Pitch Count Rules for the complete chart. Managers are responsible for tracking pitch counts — violations can result in game forfeiture.
What are the mandatory rest days after pitching?
Rest requirements are based on pitches thrown in a day. 1–20 pitches: no rest required. 21–35 pitches: 1 day rest. 36–50: 2 days. 51–65: 3 days. 66+: 4 days. See the full chart on the Little League pitch count page.
Can a 12-year-old pitch in Minor baseball?
No. League age 12-year-old players may NOT pitch in the Minor division.
Equipment & Uniforms
What bat is legal?
Bats must meet Little League specifications (Rule 1.10) and carry the USA Baseball stamp. For softball, USA Softball bat stamps are allowed (2¼" barrel, BPF 1.20). Damaged bats will be removed from play.
Does my child need a helmet with a face mask?
All batters must wear a helmet. In softball Minor and above, the pitcher, first baseman, and third baseman are also required to wear a face mask.
What cleats are allowed?
Metal cleats are not allowed in Majors and below. Molded rubber cleats are fine at all levels.
Volunteers & Coaches
Do I need to register as a volunteer if I'm just helping in the dugout?
Yes. Any adult who interacts with players must register as a volunteer, pass a background check, and complete the Little League Abuse Awareness Training — even if you're just an occasional parent helper.
How long does the Abuse Awareness Training take?
About 45 minutes. It's a free online course through Little League University. Complete it here: littleleague.org/player-safety/child-protection-program/llu-abuse-awareness-training. After completing volunteer registration, you'll also receive a separate email to initiate the background check.
I want to coach — how do I sign up?
Coaching positions are typically filled during draft season. Contact us at renonational@gmail.com to express interest for future seasons.
Fields & Logistics
Can I bring my dog to the fields?
No. Dogs are not permitted at Swope Fields.
When do fields open?
Weekdays: 4:00 PM (first games at 5:00 PM). Weekends: 8:00 AM (first games at 9:00 AM).
Parking is a nightmare — any tips?
Weekday games are the toughest — school activities can fill the lot before games even start. Arrive early. The parking lot has an unusual layout, so stick to marked spots only. Red zones and unmarked areas will get you towed. Be respectful of the school and neighboring properties.
Still have a question?
Reach out and a board member will get back to you.
